One of the most powerful ways to drive traffic to your site is to use video marketing. Videos can also be used to enhance the look and feel of your site. What better way to showcase your business or product than to present it visually. We like to see someone behind the sales pitch as it helps us to trust them more.
People like to see videos. They are said to be more engaging than plain text. Why is this? We have all grown up with television and have become used to seeing something visual. We gravitate naturally towards video in that respect. You will stand out from the crowd if you can deliver a quality video marketing experience, offering value to people.

On the contrary actually. If you are demonstrating a product for example, it would come across better if you presented it in a raw, no frills format. What video equipment do I need?
If you have a smartphone such as an iPhone or something similar you can use the high definition video facility to create your video. Alternatively the palm sized video cameras such as the Flip or the Kodak range provide excellent video quality. The only issue with these types of cameras is that you may need to get up close to the built in microphone.
If you have a camcorder for video marketing then by all means use that. Ideally this is what I would personally prefer to use because it is easier to control and works well with a tripod.
Once you have made your video you may want to edit it or add titles and subtle effects. If you have a Windows computer then try using Windows Movie Maker which you will find on your PC.
If you use a Mac then iMovie gives excellent results for video marketing content. It is not worth investing in a full blown editing package for these types of videos. Creating the video Make sure when you create your video that you use these video marketing tips:

It helps if you can add some humour to your video, but this is not absolutely necessary. In many cases it can depend on the subject matter as some topics do not lend themselves well to humour.
Essentially, with your video marketing, just try to make your video interesting to the viewer. You want to engage them and keep them coming back if possible.
Microsoft PowerPoint is used for creating slideshows. With Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 you can output your slideshow to a video file. What this means is that you can use PowerPoint to create your video using the slides for text, photos, music, narration and then save the whole thing as a video file.
You can get some truly excellent video marketing results with Microsoft PowerPoint. Personally I prefer the newer versions of PowerPoint, from 2007 onwards as these tend to have more useful features. Avoiding copyright issues
Do not use images or music which are subject to copyright. There are websites which offer copyright free music and images and you should aim to get your content from these.
Do not use a famous piece of music by your favourite band in your video. The video sites are likely to take your video off the site and all your video marketing will be in vain.
You must also be careful with using Google images. Yes there are many to choose from, but do not use something which you feel could be problematic in terms of copyright. Your Google video marketing should not break any rules.
How to distribute the video
The main video site which people are familiar with is YouTube. You should aim to load your video up there. If you do not have an account on YouTube then go to the site and create one for your video marketing. When you log in you will see an option to upload your video.
YouTube will allow you to add a title and a description to your video. Use your main keyword in the title of your video and in the description. You should also put a link back to your website in the description. The reason for doing this is that it will get people who enjoyed your video coming back to your website to find out more about you. All your video marketing will have been worthwhile when this happens.
There are other options you can set such as whether comments are allowed on your video or whether the video can be syndicated. I tend to set it up so that people can only leave comments after I approve them. That way you safeguard yourself from any bad nasty comments.
YouTube allows you to set up your own channel. You can store many videos in your channel and will look like an authority on your subject. This is something of a must in video marketing today.
You also have various templates you can choose from to customise the look of your channel. Don't over think this though. The main thing is to get your videos out there. You can always come back later and customise your channel.
Although YouTube gets the most traffic, there are other video sites you can upload your video to. These include Metacafe and Vimeo.
